Christopher W. Crenner, M.D., Ph.D.

Christopher W. Crenner, M.D., Ph.D. serves as FHWIM Oral History Committee, Chair. He is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of History and Philosophy of Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he holds the Robert Hudson and Ralph Major endowed professorship in the History and Philosophy of Medicine. He is also Associate Professor of Medicine, seeing patients and teaching as part of the faculty practice associated with the University of Kansas Hospital.

In 1984, Dr. Crenner was awarded his BA at Princeton University. In 1993, Dr. Crenner earned his Ph.D. in the History of Science at Harvard University and his M.D. degree at Harvard Medical School.

Chris Crenner's research examines the history of American medical practice. His recent publications include “Private Practice: In the Early Twentieth-Century Medical Office of Dr. Richard Cabot” (Johns Hopkins 2005).

Chris Crenner is the Secretary-Treasurer and current member of the American Association for the History of Medicine and a prior member of its national council. Currently, he has membership in the History of Science Society and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
